In January 2012, my mother died after a long battle with cancer. For Mom, her final weeks brought failing health and decisions and conversations that were the most difficult she ever had with me.

One thing that made everything better - even if only for a few moments - was a milkshake. The cold felt good on Mom's throat. It gave us a chance to share something in the final days we'd spend time together. Surprisingly, sharing a milkshake together brought smiles and laughter.

That's what led to the idea for the Shaking Cancer podcast and book. This disease is one that brings mental and physical pain, negative thoughts, and doubt. Often times, those living with cancer experience it all alone.
Let's share our stories. Let's not be alone. Let's come together in Shaking Cancer.
